To promote the practice and lead on all aspects of nursing delivery with assurance and confidence. Someone with proven ability and excellent knowledge of EMIS system and how General Practice operates. You will be the first point of contact for our staff for all nurse related matters including Infection Prevention and should be able to show prompt response. Someone who has some years of experience behind them and can start on the ground running especially knowing the immunisation schedules for childhood immunisations. As well as: ECGs, proficient in blood taking although we would prefer that to be with our HCA, Wound care, Leg ulcer treatment, Good understanding to take on the Lead role for infection prevention and being able to carry out IPC audits, Contraception injections and advice, Travel vaccinations experience. Patients are a priority so being confident in dealing with the public is required. Whilst we are a small practice in comparison to others with an ethos of a family environment, we are busy, we have doubled our practice list number in recent years and are looking to keep growing so we need someone that takes this kind of work in their stride. We expect computer literacy to be at a skilled level. Main duties of the jobAssist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs. Such tasks may include:
- Wound care / Leg ulcer care
- Removal of sutures
- New patient medicals
- Urinalysis
- ECGs
- Peak flow readings
- Venepuncture
- Blood pressure measurements
- Ear syringing
- Smear taking
- Routine immunisations child and adult
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting basic pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate
Other tasks including:
- Leading on Infection Prevention Control and carrying out required audits
- Clean and sterilise equipment using autoclave
- Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs
- Maintaining GP and nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required
- Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician
- Undertake housekeeping duties including, general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms
