Our Plastic Surgery department is a friendly and highly respected service comprising four Consultant Plastic Surgeons and one Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP), working collaboratively to provide expert care for patients across West Suffolk and the surrounding region.
As our Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will become an integral member of the team, providing expert clinical advice, coordinating patient care, supporting patients and their families throughout their treatment journey, and contributing to the ongoing development of the service.

The West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds provides acute and secondary care services (emergency department, maternity and neonatal services, day surgery unit, eye treatment centre, Macmillan unit and children's ward). It has 500+ beds and is a partner teaching hospital of the University of Cambridge.
Adult and paediatric community services, provided in collaboration with West Suffolk Alliance partners, include a range of nursing, therapy, specialist, and ongoing temporary care and rehabilitation, some at our Newmarket Community Hospital.

Person SpecificationEducation and qualificationsEssential- NMC Level 1 or ODP with HCPC registration
- Educated to degree level
Experience and knowledgeEssential- Awareness of cancer policy and its application
- Evidence of professional development and its relevant application
- Ability to develop nursing excellence and clinical practice
- Standard setting and protocol development
- Clinical audit
- Initiation and evaluation of evidence based practice
Skills and abilitiesEssential- Excellent organisational skills
- Ability to record and deal with accurate facts, figures and information
- Expert written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and co-ordinate work under pressure and using own initiative
