Job responsibilities
Main purpose:
To assist medical and nursing personnel in the care of practice patients to include venepuncture; blood pressure monitoring; doing weight and updating patients health templates.

General
Responsible for seeing patients who require blood tests and wider health checks. To maintain a safe and effective level of practice and to bring any deficits in training to the attention of the Nurse Manager so these can be addressed.

The phlebotomist will be required to act in a professional manner at all times and adhere to practice policies, protocols and guidelines.

Good communication and relationships must be established and maintained with patients, colleagues and employers

Qualifications
Essential

• Have previous experience of working within a healthcare environment.
• Hold recognised phlebotomy training and be competent in venepuncture.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be organised, conscientious and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Provide a caring, professional and patient-focused service.
