Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership within the Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and coordinating patient care within a busy Emergency Department.
• Supporting patient flow and discharge planning in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.
• Promoting a patient-centred approach and delivering high standards of evidence-based care.
• Providing education, advice, and support to patients, families, and carers.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring compliance with professional standards.
• Helping to create and maintain a safe and efficient clinical environment.
• Supporting the implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior staff, students, and healthcare support workers.
• Acting as a role model for excellent communication, professionalism, and compassionate care.

Person Specification
Knowledge

• Relevant clinical experience at Band 5
• Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice, particularly within specialty area and the application of this in practice

Qualifications and Training

• Registered Nurse Part 1,2,12
• State Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council
• Emergency Care qualification or equivalent evidenced experience
• Demonstrates evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
• Teaching qualification

Desirable

• Post-registration training preferably in speciality area - APLS, ALS, TNCC/ATLS preferable

• Diploma/ Degree in relevant area
